A face less travelled

This is a portrait of my mother as a young woman. I did it from a very old black and white photograph done in the 60's! This painting is so very different from the pencil and graphite sketch I did of the Old Man of the Sea, but so were the subjects -her face is a much smoother subject and I felt I could not give it the graphite treatment really - oil on board felt like a better medium to express her in. Anyway she enjoyed receiving this painting for her 82nd birthday. Your comments would be most welcome.
